  • Three great speeches. Well – OK, Clint’s was… unique, but Reason liked it, and that’s good enough for me: http://bit.ly/TEzUfP .

The speeches were also great because they were distinct – you could not imagine them happening at the DNC. The “American dream” story of a little man that pulls himself up to greatness by his own hard work is simply not what draws people to their party.

  • …”The “American dream” story of a little man that pulls himself up to greatness by his own hard work is simply not what draws people to their party.”…

They call it the “American Dream” because you have to be asleep to believe it.

Since, by definition, half of us MUST be below average where does the idea that they didn’t “make it” because they didn’t work hard enough make any sense? Do you think coal miners end up broke and living out their lives coughing and supported by Medicaid and food stamps because they didn’t work hard enough?

Can someone, please explain to me what did that poor chair did to old Dirty Harry?

Ha, for the first time I’m glad to hear something from Fox News. They didn’t like a republican speech (Mr. Ryan repeating the same bollocks that has been fact check already). Did you hear about Romney telling a flood victim in Louisiana to go home and call 211. Her home was under the fucking water. Why Mitt “T-800″ Romney don’t even try to connect with people. He just can’t drop the whole Billionaire away from people thing. I read so much good stuff about his father and I can’t believe that his son is capable of so much crap.

They invited Hollyweird and weird they got. Why is the GOP such a circus? It’s like they want to lose.

  • Wyrd Smythe says:

Ignoring the content, Eastwood’s delivery made me wonder if he’s entering senility. I had to stop watching around the 5:30 mark just because the delivery was so awful. And this from a very experienced actor. Unbelievable.

And the GOP continues to sink to new depths of disrespect. It’s not “Mr. Obama,” it’s “President Obama.” Regardless of how you feel about the man, respect the office. The level of disrespect, and even naked hatred, is enough to drive me away from any consideration of their platform.

He mentioned Jon Voight, another aged wealthy actor. And then there’s Romney, Mr. Wealthy. The financial ideas of the GOP have been debunked too many times to bother discussing anymore. It’s all about the wealthy becoming more wealthy and hanging on to their wealth. It makes me sick to my stomach. This is not my America.

I may be very disappointed in President Obama, but clearly in this election I’m forced to vote against something far worse than for something I believe in. And that’s the real shame of American politics.
