Hey guys! I’ve taken a couple of weeks off from my political blog because I just recently started my second year at Case Western Reserve University. I had to take some time off in order to get situated with my classes/general routine. Academics, student government, and various other clubs have taken up a lot of my time so far. But everything is organized now and I’m ready to make frequent posts again! And man… I’ve only been off the scene for a little bit and some really serious things have unfolded. Here’s a look at some topics that I’m thinking about posting soon:
- DNC Speeches
- Credit Rating Downgrade
- Romney Gaffes
- Murder of our Libya Ambassador
I’ll also be mixing in the random topics that have nothing to do with current events. I’m thinking of making a post about America’s obesity problem. Maybe another one on our divorce rates, as well. We’ll see.
Please comment if you have more ideas for me. I missed a bunch and I have only been able to do some digging for topics for… Basically… 30 minutes. So I’m sure I’m missing some big things. I’ll keep looking, but you guys should feel free to help me out!
Expect a post tomorrow!

OK – I thought of your blog when I wrote this piece about Paul Ryan. Hope you like it.

Welcome back, S.P.!
Since you asked: if you do a post on obesity, it would be a real contribution if you showed its link to social class. The death rates for obesity-related conditions amongst Hispanics, Native peoples, African-Americans, and poor rural whites in places such as Appalachia will knock your socks off.
(I just mean if you do decide to do it – not trying to be bossy.)
I’m sure whatever you decide to cover will be thoughtful and interesting.
It was way back in the mists of time, but I remember sophomore year as a great one. Hope yours is, too.
Thank you, Claire! So far it’s a great year and I hope it continues.
I’ll definitely look that up and try to incorporate it with my post! I’m not sure when I’ll get around to the research but it will happen eventually.
Welcome back. I am sure it was an inadvertent oversight that you didn’t add Obama Gaffes to your laundry list.
Trust me, I’ll get Obama too. He screws up plenty of times as well. Romney’s 47% one is just a bigger mess up at the time.
How about some thoughts on the cost of higher education from someone, like yourself, who finds them self in the middle of it? Learning that young people in America owe more to banks than the combined indebtedness ALL Americans have accumulated on credit cards was shocking to me. As I’m sure you know, it wasn’t always like this. 37 years ago I began private practice almost debt free. Today I would be many hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt for the same education. Instead of seeing patients in need of help I would be calculating the dollar amount I had to extract from every patient visit to keep the bill collectors away from my door. I would be going to work for bankers instead of people in need of help.
Is this the inevitable end product of capitalism? What happens to a culture where a thirst for knowledge, self betterment and a desire to help others live better lives means, first, becoming an indentured servant of some soulless bank?
I wonder what the thoughts of todays university students are on this unfortunate situation.
I like this idea… Once I get a bunch of other posts written I’ll try to tackle this issue as well. Thanks for the suggestion MNG! (hope you don’t mind that abbreviation)
Look forward to reading your blogs. Thanks for reading mine.
Thanks for paying my blog a visit late last year, I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to return the favour!
