About SimplePolitiks

SimplePolitiks is dedicated to logical political discourse. The author tackles various topics – new and old – to share his opinion while informing anyone who is looking for information. Below is a note from the author.

I am convinced that the myriad problems handicapping our government today are merely the side effects of the politicians’ cowardice; they fight battles if victory means the preservation of their power in Congress instead of putting America and Her people on the right path (in both the short and long run). Thus our debt has skyrocketed, entitlement programs are unsustainable, we fight unconstitutional wars with little justification and the integrity of the system is slowly eroding. Furthermore, both parties have been hijacked by a large number of extremists (Republicans more than the Democrats but it is happening to both parties), causing perpetual stalemates in Congress and polarization between Republicans and Democrats on a national level. Moderation is now a rarity in government.

All of these reasons (plus the plethora I haven’t mentioned) have me genuinely concerned about my generation’s future. I believe that we are missing various things, but in my view the most important component is the politicians’ desire to put American prosperity before their party’s agenda. There is no party which has all of the answers so our politicians disservice the people of their country when they refuse to compromise. More often than not we are better off when something is accomplished instead of nothing.

I insert my opinion into nearly all of my posts, hoping to at least scratch the surface of the best answer. There is no perfect answer, as every option will lead to relatively more dissatisfaction for one group than another.  We must realize the nature of these decisions and work together to devise a common sense approach to government in the United States. Policies need to be founded upon objective principles instead of subjective ideas with little to no reason behind them. For this reason I encourage all of you to participate in the comments section below my posts. The answer all of us hope and search for cannot be discovered until logical discussions occur.

I want to make a difference one day, but as a college student I can only do so much. Until I can make a larger impact on American history, I’ll be running this blog. If you are interested in hearing the unique opinions of an independent thinker, then please read, follow and leave some feedback if you have the time. I’d greatly appreciate it!

Enjoy.

  • Hello :) Happy New Year 2013! Thanks for calling in and liking my blog post, much appreciated :) You have a very interesting blog here, being from the UK my interest in US politics seems to cause me a lot of problems in some areas of the blogging world in so far as there are those who don’t seem to think I should have an opinion :) Well I do! And I don’t mind voicing it! Especially when it’s Republicans I can wind up ;) :D However, perhaps I can better educate myself and be less annoying to certain parties by reading and learning a little more from your blog posts :) Thanks!

“How quickly we forget the armed forces who grant us our freedoms.

How oft we choose to ignore, their deep seeded beliefs and patriotic reasons,

What they fight and die for that we take for granted as it disappears like seasons,

As we sit silent on our hands, afraid to speak these words, accused of treason…”

  • I like your blog. I am new at this blogging thing.

  • This is a debate we need to have. The same sad saga is being played out in Australia, too. A pox on all their houses!

  • Thanks for stopping by, you have a good blog too

“Logical political discourse”…glad to see someone still attempting to. I’ve moved on to “art-like stuff”, though I do still occasionally dabble in the fine art of peeing in everybody’s oatmeal. See–I’m just part of the problem!

Thanks for checking out the Lens, I appreciate it.

    Hi,
Thank You very much for the visit to my blog.

  • Thank you for taking the time to stop by my travel blog, and ‘liking’ a recent post on our ‘wandering life as expats’… much appreciated! Greetings from La Paz, Bolivia!

  • I am new to the blogging world – curious how you found me, and if you actually read all of the blogs you ‘like’ and if so, how on earth do you have the time to do this? I love what you are doing – especially as a college student. I look forward to see where you go from here.

    • Simple Politiks says:

I spend a lot of time on the WordPress Reader haha. I try to go through a bunch of other blogs every day that I’m active on mine (whether its writing a post or checking stats). I do read a good amount of the posts I “like” but I’ll also skim through some pretty thoroughly too. I’m always trying to improve my writing so that’s why I spend a good amount of time going through other people’s work. The periods of time which I’m most productive are usually my school breaks. So summer, fall break, Thanksgiving, and winter break (I’m on winter break right now). I try to keep it up during the school year but last semester it was a bit difficult and I eventually fell off the bandwagon for a short period of time.

I’m glad you like my blog, though! I’ve spent a lot of time trying to make it look professional and I really take compliments and feedback on my ideas to heart. I’m just trying to learn and get more involved with politics and I figured a blog open to the people on the web was the best way to do it.

Hope to see you around. Feel free to comment on any post you agree/disagree with.

Hey, thanks for stopping my my blog and liking my post! I’m going to follow your blog because it looks like you have some balanced things to say about politics.

  • Thanks for visiting my website and letting me know about yours. I plan to come back and see what you write in the future.
You mentioned that you’re in school. Studying political science? IR? 18th century Romanian literature?

    • Simple Politiks says:

Anytime, it was my pleasure. Good to hear you’ll be back!

I’m studying economics and soon I’ll be double majoring with philosophy. I did consider political science at one point. Hoping to go into law school or business school after undergrad, but I have a little bit of time left before I have to make that decision.

  • acaseofgrace says:

Thanks Simple Politiks for stopping by my blog. I have read a little of yours and look forward to reading more. I agree with you on being concerned for our generation (I say that without really knowing your age) and my childrens generation. Another one of my concerns is the people not getting involved. And by that I mean deeply involved. Many think politics is boring, scary or confusing. Many avoid discussing it because of the arguments it leads to. By doing this they choose to not be part of the solution. Again, I look forward to reading more. Good luck in school.

    • Simple Politiks says:

I wholeheartedly agree with you about other people’s involvement in politics. It was a pretty daunting task for me as well when my interest really started to grow last year. I just made myself dive into it because I knew I was passionate about the subject. This blog is the main tool I use to learn more about it. It forces me to stay updated on the current events. SimplePolitiks also puts my judgment and problem-solving abilities to the test thanks to the dozens of comments on most posts. I don’t think I could hit a wider audience any other way (you can only hit so many people on a college campus – especially because a good majority of those people aren’t interested in politics).

Oh, and I’m 19 years old right now. Second year in college. Thanks for your support, take care.

      • acaseofgrace says:

Well I think its great that at your age you are doing this. I hope more young people follow your lead. I waited too long to get involved and finally did (in my 30′s) because of my children. We need more young people active in it. Good luck on this journey of yours.

  • Thanks for visiting and liking my very first post on my blog! I really appreciate what you have here! Much success!

  • I like your attitude of mind and the issues that concern you are those that worry me. Australia replicates America in so many ways and we are infected by the same problems and attitudes. More power to you!

Thank you for stopping by and liking my recent blog at notthebestoftimes. It is very refreshing to see someone at your age as involved and as immersed in the challenges our nation is facing today as politics has become more about personal agenda and philosophical maintenance than about addressing the needs and wants of the people of our country. I’ll be reading more of your posts so keep up the good work.

  • Joyce says:

Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog. Your blog is very informative also. It is good to see other perspectives on things in the news these days.

  • To bring a change you must adopt the path of providing solutions for political problems rather than just mentioning the problems on different issues. So rather than being a critic, i would like to see your blog more indulged in creating vision and providing solutions. Please leave the criticism part to academics. :)

    • Simple Politiks says:

You’re right on the money there. I hope to eventually transition my blog into an innovative outlet for political ideas/solutions. But before I can succeed in that endeavor I have to explore all of the issues and solidify my beliefs. Unfortunately that takes time, and I haven’t even been writing for more than 6 months. So for now I’ll mostly critique in hopes of refining my beliefs through any valid arguments presented to me through the comments section (along with all of the discussion the media/internet enables). Once I see most of the arguments out there and I have enough experience critiquing the political world, I hope to create the vision you’re talking about.

Thanks so much for the advice.
